Spelling help for knowing which vowel to use.?
The English language is one of the most difficult since it does not have a standardized vernacular. In other words, it contains a lot of words of foreign origin, idioms, silent letters, and rules of grammar that do not apply to every situation. My advice, and you will probably hear this more than once, is to just rely on the dictionary if you're uncertain about the spelling. Even if you don't know how to spell the word in order to look it up, you can at least go by the first two or three letters. The second thing you can do is when you do find the correct spelling, frequent use of the word will help you memorize it so that the spelling becomes automatic, and you won't even have to think about it. And where spell check is available, it will also be helpful to you. Good luck!
