hurts from holding in a fart?

I have this phobia of farting around people so I find myself holding it in a lot but today I held in my fart and when I got home and sat down on the couch, my started hurting. It wasn't like a burning or stinging. It was really painful but it's a really weird feeling that's hard to describe. Has anyone ever had this happen?
