Need help in finding petite pants-i'm a size 5/6, have trouble finding pants that will lessen the appearance

of my hips-what is meant by a curvy fit : contoured through hips and thighs vs modern fit: sits below waist? does modern fit give a more graceful backside appearance? and where do i shop for nice pants? i've looked at american eagle but it's more sporty...anne taylor...etc? any further suggestions? thanks!
